The Academy is located near the coast in Houston, Guyana, adjacent to the Guyana Shore Base (GYSBI), where many graduates now work. The purpose-built training facility is set on 80,000 sq.ft. and includes offices, classrooms and practicals capabilities. Here participants can learn the skills, use the tools and adopt the safety culture necessary to have a successful career in oil and gas. The same equipment that is used on the job is used at IPMA.
Companies can choose from standard courses or customize and combine from our extensive offering to suit unique requirements. Our facilities can also be made available, and your own expert instructors accommodated in specialized training. Flexible contracting models, including scholarships and headcount transitions, allow operators and service companies working in Guyana to manage their team's career development and variable operations/labor demand.
Courses are mainly provided to companies, although there are some open courses which individuals can register for. Submit an inquiry via the Contact Us page. Courses are suitable for individuals new to industry, as well as those with experience from other industries, for example mining and sugar. The starting point is safety, which forms part of every course, and instills a safety culture in all who attend.
